This workshop will be split up into four parts: an initial discussion, photography walk, editing session and a final critique.
Discussion, 10-11am
We'll cover what it means to be a photographer today in comparison to the past and introduce the foundational principles of photography. Each student will select a theme for the day to help focus his or her practice.
Photography Walk, 11-12:30pm
During our walk, students will photograph objects or people around the city relating to their topic. They'll have a chance to apply the concepts learned in our discussion without getting overwhelmed. Students are encouraged to ask questions and work with each other. Make sure to dress warmly!
Lunch, 12:30-1pm
This break will give students a chance to distance themselves from their photos and come back with a fresh perspective. Please bring a lunch with you or some cash for pizza.
Editing Session, 1-1:45pm
Students will learn how to select their best images, and discover their personal "why" behind their selections. This is a crucial step that will give them a better understanding as to what it is they like and dislike about their images. We'll also introduce editing techniques and finalize the photos.
Critique, 1:45-2pm
Students will present their collections to the rest of the group, and we'll share insights about the photos and the workshop as a whole.
Additional Info
